Speaking on Deadline’s Crew Call podcast, <strong>Tropper explained the thinking behind the movie’s more standalone approach.</strong></p>

<p>Tropper said the goal from the beginning was to avoid making a story that depended heavily on established franchise lore. <strong>“What we wanted to do was to tell a story that was free of (Star Wars) mythology,”</strong> the writer said. </p>

<p>He also pointed to the film’s place in the chronology as an important part of that approach. <strong>“We were out ahead in the timeline,”</strong> Tropper added, allowing the filmmakers to move beyond the events that have dominated the saga so far.</p>



<p>That decision also opened the door to audiences who might not have followed every chapter of the franchise. According to Tropper, the team wanted <strong>“something with as few barriers of entry as possible for new fans and viewers.”</strong> He described the goal in straightforward terms: <strong>“It’s a simpler movie.”</strong></p>



<p>Tropper was even more direct when describing what the picture will not be. <strong>“This isn’t a Skywalker saga movie,” </strong>he said. The writer continued by listing several of the franchise’s defining factions: <strong>“we’re not dealing with the history of the Rebellion, the First Order, the Resistance or the Empire.”</strong> Instead, <strong>“we’re kind of beyond all that.”</strong></p>

The mission eventually puts the pair in conflict with criminal forces connected to the Hutt Cartel.</p>



<p>The movie also expands the cast beyond the central duo. <strong>Jeremy Allen White</strong> voices Rotta the Hutt, while <strong>Sigourney Weaver</strong> plays New Republic colonel Ward. <strong>Jonny Coyne</strong> appears as crime lord Janu Coin, and the film also features returning characters from other corners of the “Star Wars” universe, including Zeb Orrelios and Embo.</p>



<p>The picture arrived in theaters on <strong>May 22.</strong> Its move to Disney+ comes after its digital release in July and its upcoming physical-media debut on <strong>August 25.</strong> The streaming premiere on September 2 will make the latest chapter of Djarin and Grogu’s story available globally to Disney+ subscribers.</p>

<p>However, the series couldn’t sustain the viewership, which dropped significantly over its course. It dropped off the Top 10 in Week 3 and only returned at No. 10 after the release of the finale. Per Deadline, it gathered <strong>335M minutes</strong>, believed to be the<strong> lowest for a Star Wars series finale.</strong></p>

<p>The show, helmed by <strong>Leslye Headland</strong>, known for producing <strong>“Bachelorette”</strong> and <strong>“Russian Doll”</strong> series for <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/netflix">Netflix</a>, immediately grabbed attention for its unique approach. <p>Set a century before the events of <strong>“Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,”</strong> “The Acolyte” delves into the emergence of dark side powers during the twilight of the <strong>High Republic Era</strong>. Specifically, it follows a Jedi Master as he investigates a series of crimes, unveiling sinister forces.</p>



<p>Headlined by a stellar cast including <strong>Amandla Stenberg</strong>, known for her role as Rue in<strong> “The Hunger Games,”</strong> <strong>Dafne Keen</strong>, who portrayed Laura in<strong> “Logan,”</strong> and <strong>Lee Jung-jae</strong>, famous for his performance as Seong Gi-hun in <strong>“Squid Game,”</strong> the series is poised to break streaming records.</p>

<p>The first season of “Andor” was positively received, scoring a 96% of approval on Rotten Tomatoes. <p>Currently, there is no confirmed release date for Andor season 2. The season was initially slated for an August 2024 release, two years after the premiere of season 1. However, production delays due to the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes pushed this date back.<strong> Filming wrapped in February 2024, and post-production is now underway.</strong></p>



<p>According to Tony Gilroy, the process could take nine months to a year. Stellan Skarsgård, who plays Luthen Rael, hinted in an interview that season 2 might be released towards <strong>the end of 2024 or early 2025</strong>.</p>
