Spider-Man: Brand New Day is bringing Tom Holland and Zendaya back to the Marvel universe for a new chapter in Peter Parker and MJ’s story, but the biggest battle surrounding the film is happening far away from the screen.

As anticipation builds for the next installment of Sony and Marvel’s franchise, attention has turned to one of Hollywood’s most talked-about questions: who earned more for returning to the web-slinging saga?

Who Earned More: Zendaya or Tom Holland?

Tom Holland is expected to earn more than Zendaya for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with reports placing his salary in the $20 million range, while the actress’ estimated paycheck is $8 million, according to @Wealth and Times Now.

The difference reflects Holland’s position as the franchise’s main character and longtime face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The fourth MCU Spider-Man movie brings back Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Zendaya as MJ, continuing the story after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, represents another major chapter for both actors, but their contracts reportedly do not have the same value.

Holland’s higher salary is linked to his evolution within the franchise. Since debuting as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, he has become one of Marvel’s most recognizable stars, leading three previous solo films and returning for Brand New Day as the central figure of the story.
