While the music industry is brimming with rising stars, none are making the impact quite like Chappell Roan. The Missouri-born singer has skyrocketed to A-list celebrity status in less than three months, a success she’s worked tirelessly to achieve when the moment was right.
Though her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, initially dropped in September with little fanfare, it quickly became a sensation. Its profound yet simple lyrics and infectious melodies catapulted her to break several records, including drawing the largest daylight crowd at Lollapalooza.
However, that was far from her peak. On August 11, she made her VMAs debut with a stunning Joan of Arc-themed performance, leaving everyone in awe. Critics and fans alike declared her not only the best of the night but also the new face of the next pop era. Naturally, the question on everyone’s mind is when she’ll release new music. Here’s everything we know so far.
When will Chappell Roan’s sophomore album be released?
While Chappell Roan gained recognition for the quality of her debut album, it was the single she released afterward, “Good Luck Babe!,” that catapulted her to global stardom. The track is part of her highly anticipated second album, which she has been teasing, though there hasn’t been much news on when it will be released. So, when can we expect it? Will it arrive in 2024?

Many believe Roan should capitalize on her immense popularity before it fades, but the artist doesn’t feel the same. She’s repeatedly stated that what she loves most about making music is taking her time, and her second album will be no exception.
Her record producer, Dan Nigro, echoed this sentiment at the ASCAP Pop Awards in May 2024, saying, “I’m feeling good about it, but we’re still at the very beginning of the recording process—it’s only been a few days.”
Additionally, three months ago, during a Q&A in Saint Louis, Roan mentioned that the new album wouldn’t be coming anytime soon. She planned to wrap her tour in September and take the rest of the year to focus on the project, with the goal of having it ready for 2025. However, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, she hinted that things were progressing faster than expected.
“We have a country song. We have a dancey song. One that’s really Eighties, one that’s acoustic, and another that has an organic, live-band, Seventies vibe. It’s super weird,” she revealed to Rolling Stone.
All signs point to the second album not dropping in late 2024, but more likely in early 2025. Roan has also acknowledged the toll A-list fame has taken on her, expressing her need for a break before fully diving into her next release.
