Tom Holland is looking beyond his own Spider-Man journey, revealing that the future of the MCU's wall-crawler has already been discussed as Marvel prepares the next chapter of the iconic legacy.

Spider-Man has never been just one hero—it has always been a legacy. Tom Holland has now revealed that Marvel and Sony are already thinking beyond his own time in the suit, confirming that there is a clear creative plan for how the mantle of the hero could eventually be passed to a new character.

While he remains committed to Peter Parker’s story, the actor described those conversations as one of the most exciting aspects of the franchise’s long-term future. He stopped short of naming a successor, but his comments align with years of discussion inside the Spider-Man franchise about preserving the character across generations.

What did Tom Holland say about Spider-Man’s successor?

Tom Holland said there is already a long-term plan for how he could eventually pass the Spider-Man mantle to a new hero, but he emphasized that the future of the character is still flexible.

The actor revealed that he has a clear idea of how the transition could happen and wants to be involved in shaping the next chapter of Spider-Man’s legacy rather than simply stepping away from the role.

There’s a whole plan. It’s laid out, it’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing of the baton and I think it’s really exciting“.

His comments do not confirm that Marvel Studios has already selected the next live-action Spider-Man, but they show that conversations about the character’s future have moved beyond his current run as Peter Parker.

The actor previously explained that he would like to have a role similar to Robert Downey Jr.’s influence on him, helping guide whoever eventually takes over the iconic mask.

The idea of passing the Spider-Man mantle has deep roots in Marvel Comics, where Peter Parker has shared the identity with several heroes. Among the names he mentioned as possible future directions are Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Woman, three characters who have become increasingly important within Marvel’s wider universe.

Miles Morales remains the most discussed possibility among fans because of his enormous popularity in comics, video games, and Sony’s animated Spider-Verse franchise. However, Holland’s comments were not a confirmation that Miles will replace Peter Parker in the MCU, and Marvel Studios has not announced any official plans for a successor.

The timing of his comments is significant as well. After nearly a decade playing Spider-Man, beginning with Captain America: Civil War in 2016, the actor has reached a point where he is thinking about the character’s future beyond his own portrayal.

Following Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the franchise is expected to continue expanding, and Holland appears interested in ensuring that the transition preserves what makes Peter Parker one of Marvel’s most enduring heroes.
