For many actors, starring in one of the year’s most acclaimed films would seem like the ideal launching pad for the next chapter of their career. Morton, however, says that has not been her experience. Reflecting on the months following production, she explained that new roles simply have not materialized.

“I’ve got really good agents and a manager, but at the end of the day, I’m 49,” Morton said, before adding, “I do believe I’m a good actor, [but] there are other good actors out there.”

The comments arrive at a moment when Morton’s work in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has earned some of the strongest reviews of her career. Playing the enigmatic goddess Circe, the Oscar-nominated actress was singled out by critics, while Nolan’s epic has become both a critical and box office success since its July release.

Morton has spent decades building one of the industry’s most respected filmographies, with acclaimed performances in “Sweet and Lowdown,” “In America,” “Minority Report,” “Control,” “The Whale,” and television projects including “The Serpent Queen.” She is a two-time Academy Award nominee, a BAFTA Fellow, and a Golden Globe winner, with “The Odyssey” adding another widely praised performance to her résumé.
