Leonardo DiCaprio is back on the big screen with “One Battle After Another,” an action thriller produced, written, and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Loosely based on Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel “Vineland,” the picture also stars Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti in her film debut.

The title follows a group of ex-revolutionaries who must reunite after 16 years to rescue one of their own’s daughter when a dangerous enemy resurfaces. It had its world premiere in Los Angeles on September 8 and is set for a wide U.S. release by Warner Bros. Pictures on September 26, 2025. Amidst these promotions, DiCaprio revealed what he sees as his next project.

DiCaprio Wants to Team Up With Scorsese Again

Leonardo DiCaprio recently revealed that his plan for the future is to collaborate with Martin Scorsese again. “To me, always working with Marty again is the ultimate gift. He is a national treasure and the world’s greatest director. So, if I get another opportunity, that would be a dream come true,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

The actor–director duo is one of the most celebrated partnerships in modern cinema. Since 2002, DiCaprio and Scorsese have worked on six feature films and one short film, spanning genres from historical epics and crime thrillers to biopics and comedies. Their projects have received critical acclaim, frequently appearing on year-end, decade-end, and best-of-century lists, while also earning 31 Academy Award nominations and nine wins between them. In 2013, the pair was honored with the National Board of Review Spotlight Award for their career-spanning collaboration.

Financially, their partnership has been remarkably successful, with five of their feature films generating a combined $1.3 billion at the box office. DiCaprio has cited Scorsese’s earlier works, such as “Taxi Driver” and “Mean Streets,” as major inspirations.

He has described their collaboration as “an amazing accidental journey” that has profoundly shaped his career, while Scorsese first learned of DiCaprio through Robert De Niro, who worked with the young actor in “This Boy’s Life” and recommended him as “impressive.” Their first movie together, “Gangs of New York,” set the tone for a partnership defined by ambitious storytelling and unforgettable performances.

Over the years, the duo has produced some of Hollywood’s most memorable films, including “The Aviator,” “The Departed,” “Shutter Island,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “The Audition,” and most recently, “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Each project has showcased their ability to blend complex characters with striking visuals while pushing the boundaries of genre filmmaking. DiCaprio’s continued admiration for Scorsese underscores not only their past achievements but also the excitement surrounding the possibility of another collaboration in the years to come.
