As excitement continues to build around the blockbuster, Janssen suggested the film would have benefited from including one of the most recognizable X-Men characters in cinema history.
Famke Janssen Thinks Jean Grey Should Have Been Part of Avengers: Doomsday
The upcoming Marvel epic already boasts an enormous cast that includes several familiar faces from the original X-Men film series. Actors such as Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Ian McKellen and Rebecca Romijn are set to reprise their roles, making Janssen’s absence particularly noticeable for longtime fans. The picture will bring together the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Wakandans, and the X-Men as they confront Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr..
Speaking during an appearance at Spacecon 2026, Janssen addressed the ongoing rumors that she could still be secretly involved in the project. The actress joked about her inability to conceal surprises, telling the audience, “I am so bad at keeping secrets that I always say to everyone I’m the worst actor in the world. It’s all on my face. You right away will read it.”
While reaffirming that she is not part of the movie, Janssen also revealed her feelings about not being invited back. “I think they made a mistake, but hey, who am I? I’m just a little me who thinks that,” she said.
Janssen first brought Jean Grey to the big screen in 2000’s “X-Men” and remained one of the central figures of Fox’s mutant franchise for years. The character, a founding member of the X-Men and one of Marvel’s most powerful mutants, became especially associated with the Phoenix storyline.
Of course, fans remain divided on whether her absence is exactly what it appears to be. The studio has built a reputation for keeping major surprises under wraps, particularly when it comes to multiverse projects. For now, however, Janssen is maintaining that she is not involved, even if she would have preferred a different outcome.
