During a recent appearance on Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party, the comedian and actor confirmed that a fourth “Austin Powers” film is moving forward, offering a surprisingly direct answer to a question fans have been asking for more than two decades.

A One Word Answer Ends Years of Speculation

The moment arrived when a fan asked Myers whether audiences would ever get to see “Austin Powers 4.” Rather than sidestepping the question or offering another vague update, Myers responded with a simple “Yes!” The answer was so immediate that Noah reacted with visible surprise, remarking, “wow, that was a quick yes!”

No additional information followed, leaving plenty of unanswered questions about the project’s status, potential cast, release timeline, or whether longtime collaborator Jay Roach would return to direct. Even so, the brief exchange instantly became headline news because of how different it was from Myers’ previous comments on the subject.

For years, the actor has spoken enthusiastically about revisiting the franchise while stopping short of outright confirmation. As far back as 2005, he revealed there was hope for another installment. Later interviews suggested he had developed ideas centered on Dr. Evil, while subsequent updates hinted that scripts, negotiations, and story concepts were periodically taking shape behind the scenes.

The “Austin Powers” series debuted with 1997’s “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” before expanding into the hit sequels “The Spy Who Shagged Me” and “Goldmember.” Created by Myers as both a loving tribute to and parody of classic spy adventures, particularly the James Bond films that influenced him growing up, the franchise became one of the defining comedy properties of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Interest in a fourth movie has never completely faded. Myers reiterated as recently as 2024 that he believed more stories remained to be told and suggested he would be surprised if another installment failed to materialize. Now, with a public and unequivocal “Yes!” attached to the question, fans have their strongest indication yet that Austin Powers is preparing for a return to the big screen.
