According to Variety, Brian Cox has been cast in Season 2 of “Dexter: Resurrection,” taking on a role that has so far existed only in the shadows of the show’s mythology. The veteran performer will portray Dom Framt, a figure better known within the series as the New York Ripper.

A Killer Steps Out of the Shadows

Framt is not a new name to viewers, but his presence has until now been indirect. Introduced in the first season as a notorious serial killer tied to past crimes in New York, the character was never shown on screen. His reputation, however, lingered through references and investigative threads.

Season 2 changes that dynamic. The New York Ripper is described as a killer who once terrorized the city before going dormant. Rather than disappearing entirely, he has reportedly sustained his notoriety by psychologically tormenting survivors connected to his earlier crimes.

The addition of Cox places a seasoned dramatic presence at the center of that storyline. Known for playing commanding, morally complex figures, his casting indicates that the role may lean as much on psychological tension as it does on the procedural elements that have long defined the franchise.

The series itself, developed by Clyde Phillips, continues the story of Dexter Morgan, once again played by Michael C. Hall. Set in New York City following the events of “Dexter: New Blood,” the show blends serialized storytelling with episodic cases, reintroducing familiar characters while expanding its world with new adversaries.

With production on Season 2 scheduled to begin this month and the title airing on Paramount+ with Showtime, Cox’s arrival marks one of the most significant casting moves for the franchise’s latest chapter.
