We love series about generations of families, especially when they focus on women. In the new Spanish production “Land of Women,” a daughter, mother, and grandmother join forces and get to rank among the most-watched shows on Apple TV+ worldwide.
It is based on the bestselling novel by Sandra Barneda, the Spanish journalist and writer who garners increasing acclaim with each book release, both in her home country and far from where she was born.
Additionally, the title was created by Ramón Campos, known for his involvement in some of the greatest successes on the small screen such as “Gran Hotel,” “High Seas,” and “The Asunta Case,”
‘Land of Women’ ranks #3 on Apple TV+ worldwide
Spanish series have been trending on streaming platforms since the release of “Money Heist,” and Apple TV+ is not lagging behind. Its recent creation, “Land of Women,” is currently trending #3 worldwide.
The show has surpassed “Trying” and “Acapulco” by a significant margin, despite these two being longtime favorites on the platform. It’s currently in a close competition with “Dark Matter” for the top spot, occupied by Jake Gyllenhaal‘s “Presumed Innocent.”
In “Land of Women,” a high-society New York woman must escape with her mother and daughter to a charming wine village in Spain. There, she will have to adjust to the quirks of her neighbors and confront her family’s deepest secrets.
The cast includes both legends and newcomers. Eva Longoria, the iconic star from “Desperate Housewives,” portrays the mother, while Carmen Maura, a muse of Pedro Almodóvar, plays the grandmother. Victoria Bazua makes her small screen debut as the daughter, and the three are accompanied by Venezuelan actor Santiago Cabrera, known for his role as Joseph Bachman in “Big Little Lies.”
“Land of Women” has garnered acclaim from both critics and audiences, praised as a light hearted production that captivates with its rich storytelling and portrayal of Spanish culture.
