After some time on stage performing in Cabaret, Eddie Redmayne is back on screen with a historical thriller that promises suspense, drama and a great deal of political chaos: The Day of the Jackal.
The star of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and “Les Misérables” is not the only talented figure in the cast, as he is joined by Ben Hall, Sule Rimim, Úrsula Corberó, Lashana Lynch, Charles Dance and many others.
The first season, which consists of ten episodes, follows a rival-less and elusive lone assassin, The Jackal, who makes a living carrying out high-priced hits. The series will arrive on Peacock‘s catalog for the US on November 7 of this year.
Is ‘The Day of the Jackal’ based on a true story?
No! The upcoming Peacock series is based on the 1971 novel of the same name by Frederick Forsyth and the 1973 film adaptation by Universal. It is not a true story, so its characters and events are 100 percent fictional.
The story, both of the thriller and the popular book, revolves around an anonymous assassin, known only as “The Jackal”, who is hired to kill Charles de Gaulle, the President of France.
The literary work is set in a politically tense context of the 1960s and early 1970s. It has a historical atmosphere of the time, but its characters and the assassination plot are products of the author’s imagination.
