Set in Rome in 79 AD, the show centers on Vespasian, the current emperor portrayed by Anthony Hopkins, who is nearing death and must decide which of his two sons, each with very different views on life and ruling, will take the throne.

Sara Martins-Court plays Cala, a Numidian trader who comes to Rome to reunite with her son after he was sold into the world of gladiators. While Martins-Court’s career is primarily based in France, she is known for her roles in “Tell No One,” “Paris, I Love You,” and “Little White Lies.”
Moe Hashim as Kwame
Moe Hashim portrays Cala’s son, Kwame, who enters the gladiatorial arena with the sole objective of reuniting with his mother. Hashim is best known for his role as Moe Bumbercatch in the beloved series “Ted Lasso.”
