The original adaptations of “The Chronicles of Narnia” are some of the most iconic in film history, so when it was announced that Netflix was developing a new adaptation, the world went crazy.
The upcoming project, directed by Greta Gerwig, is one of the most ambitious, as it has been underway since 2019, when the streaming giant acquired the rights to create new films based on the books.
Matthew Aldrich, the screenwriter of Coco, was initially appointed as the “creative architect” to oversee the titles, and will also be in charge of the script. Amy Pascal will be producing alongside Mark Gordon and others.
Does The Chronicles of Narnia have any confirmed actors?
Well, it seems that the new adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia doesn’t have any confirmed actors yet. Deadline and Film Updates had reported that Louis Partridge had joined the cast, but this was later denied.
What’s on Netflix also confirmed that the Enola Holmes actor and Olivia Rodrigo’s boyfriend has not been cast as the first confirmed figure, but this doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen in the future.
IMDb had posted on its website that the first casting was for Louis in the role of Digory Kirke, which suggests that they might start with the book “The Magician’s Nephew“, following the chronological order.

What will be different about the new Chronicles of Narnia?
The Chronicles of Narnia has already had successful adaptations that have shaped an entire generation, so expectations are quite high. The creative direction will be handled by director Greta Gerwig (Barbie and Little Women).
She has expressed her respect and apprehension regarding the magnitude of adapting such an iconic series, suggesting that she is approaching the project with great care and consideration, as many fans had hoped.
With her approach and Netflix’s backing, the new interpretation promises to bring a fresh and deep vision to the legendary saga. Therefore, we might not see the stories that have already been told, but rather the subsequent books .
