This week, according to FlixPatrol, one of the most watched series on Netflix is the new K-drama “Romance In The House.” The series is currently the third most watched show on the platform worldwide, with only two episodes released.
The series‘ synopsis describes it as the story of a man who vanishes from his family for 11 years after his business fails. He later reappears in their lives as a wealthy landlord, leading to a complicated and tumultuous reunion. However, the story is much more complicated than that.
The cast of the new drama includes Jin-Hee, Son Na-Eun, Kim Jee-Soo, and Choi Min-Ho in lead roles. Here’s what to know about this show, which will air twice a week on Saturdays and Sundays on Netflix.
What is ‘Romance in The House’ about?
One of the key characters in the series is Byeon Mi-rae, portrayed by Son Na-eun. Mi-rae is a dedicated food merchandiser who works tirelessly to support her younger brother’s education. Her father, Byeon Moo-jin, played by Ji Jin-hee, faced multiple business failures, which eventually led Mi-rae’s mother, Geum Ye-yeon, played by Kim Ji-soo, to end their marriage.
Raising the children alone was a significant challenge for Geum Ye-yeon, but they were fortunate to secure an affordable apartment, providing them some stability. However, their lives take a turn when the owner of the apartment building dies in a suspicious house fire, and they are summoned to the real estate agency with the option to either stay or leave.
The twist comes when they discover that the new owner of the building is none other than Moo-jin, the father they believed to be dead. Moo-jin is now wealthy and owns the building, but his sudden reappearance raises many questions. It’s strange that he never contacted his family during the time they thought he was dead, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the previous owner’s death make his involvement seem likely. Despite his lingering feelings for his ex-wife and his desire to reconnect with his family, Mi-rae remains adamant in keeping him away from her mother.
Mi-rae’s personal life is also complicated by romantic entanglements. She has a troublesome ex-boyfriend, portrayed by Daniel Choi, who still lingers in her life. At the same time, she finds herself drawn to Nam Tae-pyeong, a security guard at her company, played by SHINee’s Minho. Tae-pyeong, who is sweet and endearing, seems like a potential new love interest, but he carries a secret that could impact their budding relationship.
As Mi-rae navigates the challenges posed by her father’s unexpected return and her own romantic dilemmas, the series unfolds a complex story of family, betrayal, and hidden truths. The characters’ intertwined lives create a narrative filled with suspense, emotional conflicts, and the struggle to reconcile the past with the present.
