The sci-fi comedy “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” has become one of the most popular titles on Netflix globally and in the US. The film, according to the streamer’s Top 10, reached the fourth spot of the most-watched list for the week of July 29 – August 4, 2024.

The film is a sequel to the 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” and finds Gary Grooberson and the Spengler family taking up the mantle of the original Ghostbuster in New York City. However, they will still need the help of the old gang when a new evil spirit is freed into the city and threatens to freeze it.

Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim reprise their roles from Afterlife, alongside Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and William Atherton who come back from previous movies.

According to Netflix, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire—which premiered on the streaming service on July 22—debuted at No. 2 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 chart for the week of July 22-28.

The streamer noted that the movie had 10.2 million views, which equates to 19.6 million hours viewed. Meanwhile, for July 29 – August 4, the film dropped to the ninth position worldwide, with 3,800,000 views.
