“Furies,” a French action thriller, is currently the second most watched series on Netflix worldwide, and it could potentially dethrone “Avatar: The Last Airbender” from the number 1 spot. The series premiered on March 1, and it only two days has climbed on the charts, according to FlixPatrol.

The series stars a talented cast, headlined by Lina El Arabi, who is also known for her role in other Netflix’s series “Family Business,” and Marina Fois, who recently appeared in “The Sitting Duck” (2021). Mathieu Kassovitz, who is known for titles such as “La Haine” and “Amélie,” also appears.

Fatima Adoum, Steve Tientcheu, Quentin Faure, Jérémy Nadeau, Sandor Funtek, Axel Brendemühl, Anne Azoulay, and Eye Haidara complete the cast. French filmmaker Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, who is known for “Kate” (2021) and “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” (2016), is directing the series.

Furies, an action thriller to binge-watch

“Furies” is an eight-episode series which revolves around the Parisian criminal world. It follows a young woman who is looking to avenge her father’s death and gets trapped in the web of the Fury, who is a woman peacekeeper of the city’s criminal underworld.

This young girl, portrayed by El Arabi, is named Lyna. She knows her parents are involved in illegal activities, but she is a student and tries to keep her distance from that. However, when visits her parents on her birthday, her father is shot in the head in front of her.

In the US, the series is the seventh most-watched, per FlixPatrol. All the feats are impressive, considering also, that the platform hasn’t rolled out a proper marketing campaign for this production in the US.

Either way, the series, such as other stories set in the criminal world, is a great watch for all those action lovers against the backdrop of Paris, which is, of course, one of the most cinematic cities in the world.
