Among all the romance titles streaming services have presented this year, June brings us “A Family Affair,” the new Netflix production that quickly became the most-watched movie in the United States upon its release.
It is directed by Richard LaGravenese, known for his work on “The Last Five Years” and “Beautiful Creatures,” though he is perhaps more renowned as a writer, with notable credits including “The Bridges of Madison County.”
Both critics and audiences alike have praised the film as a highly entertaining two-hour journey, with special applasues for Zac Efron‘s comedic performance.
‘A Family Affair’ ranks #1 on Netlix in the United States
Romantic comedies are currently in a trending moment, each achieving high levels of viewership quickly. This holds true for “My Family Affair,” which has swiftly become the most-watched movie on Netflix in the United States.
Not only has it claimed the top spot on the charts, but it’s remarkable how easily it has outperformed “Trigger Warning,” despite being the triumphant return of Jessica Alba.
The picture centers around Zara Ford, a personal assistant to a self-absorbed Hollywood star. Fed up with her celebrity boss, she quits, only for him to visit her at home to persuade her to stay. Upon arriving, he discovers that Zara is not home, but her widowed mother is.
As widely known, “A Family Affair” stars Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman. This isn’t their first film together. That distinction belongs to “The Paperboy,” which shares many similarities with their just released collaboration.
The rest of the cast includes Joey King, Kathy Bates, Liza Koshy, and others, all contributing to a wonderfully comedic story that aligns with Zac Efron’s career direction in recent years.
