After becoming one of the most talked-about actors of 2023 with “Barbie” and portraying a stuntman in 2024’s “The Fall Guy,” Ryan Gosling is now diving into “Project Hail Mary.” Based on the bestselling novel by Andy Weir, the film is set to hit theaters on March 20, 2026.

This project has all the ingredients to be the blockbuster of the year. Produced and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller in their first directing effort since “22 Jump Street” and written by Drew Goddard who previously adapted Weir’s “The Martian,” their upcomig collaboration carries big expectations. But beyond the star-studded team, the newly released trailer speaks for itself. Watch it below.

Ryan Gosling Goes Galactic in First Trailer for ‘Project Hail Mary’

The epic sci-fi film, set in the near future, follows junior high school teacher turned astronaut Ryland Grace, who awakens from a coma suffering from amnesia. As his memories slowly return, he recalls being sent to the Tau Ceti solar system, 12 light-years from Earth, on a critical mission to find a solution for reversing a solar dimming event that threatens to cause humanity’s extinction.

Joining Ryan Gosling are Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntrub, Lionel Boyce, and Ken Leung. Sandra Hüller’s involvement has generated significant excitement, especially after her acclaimed performances in “Anatomy of a Fall” and “The Zone of Interest” in 2023, which captivated audiences worldwide and earned Oscar recognition.

Looking ahead, this will not be the last collaboration between Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and Andy Weir’s work. The duo is set to direct “Artemis,” a story set in the late 2080s in the Moon’s first city, following porter and smuggler Jasmine “Jazz” Bashara as she becomes entangled in a conspiracy for control of Artemis.

Additionally, another film originally written by Weir and directed by Lord and Miller is also in development. With multiple projects on the horizon, exciting things are coming for sci-fi fans.
