After his trajectory was forever changed due to his legal battle with Amber Heard, it seems Johnny Depp is beginning to breathe again in the showbiz that saw him born and rise as one of the most talented actors of his generation.
Following his victory in the trial against his ex-wife, the star took a break from the spotlight. Then, he began his return in Europe, starring in the lead role of Louis XV in the 2023 French period drama “Jeanne du Barry” and directing the Amedeo Modigliani-inspired film “Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness”.
Now, in addition to being set to star as Satan in Terry Gilliam’s upcoming “The Carnival at the End of Days,” he is focusing on his second project in Hollywood, which appears to be coming much sooner. Here, learn all about his return.
‘Day Drinker’: Cast, plot and all that is known
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnny Depp will return to the big screen in an action thriller titled “Day Drinker,” where he will co-star alongside Penelope Cruz, with whom he has shared the screen before in some of their greatest hits, “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
The story revolves around a cruise ship bartender who meets a mysterious day drinker, and they suddenly become entangled in a criminal plan that connects them in unexpected ways. The film will be distributed by Lionsgate, with Marc Webb directing!
Having directed box office hits like “500 Days of Summer” and “The Amazing Spider-Man,” it is very likely that “Day Drinker” will be another Webb-certified hit. The media outlet defines the project as a commercial concept with innovations on the typical clichés of the genre, which is exactly what the filmmaker is an expert in turning into gold.
While a release date has not yet been announced, it is quite probable we will see it by the end of 2025 at the earliest, as it has only just begun entering the first production stages. We will keep you updated as more information on the movie becomes available
