Books have always inspired movies, and in the next few years, we can expect to see several adaptations hitting the screens. Among them are best-selling author Emily Henry’s beloved romance novels, including “Book Lovers,” “Beach Read” and “People We Meet on Vacation.”
The three titles have become New York Time bestsellers, and have a passionate fan base, especially vocal on social media platforms such as TikTok, X and Instagram. Back in 2023, when she announced the movie adaptation of “Book Lovers,” Henry wrote that she was “happy” to get partners that understand romance, and “the essential role this kind of art plays in our lives.”

What is ‘Book Lovers’ about?
The book follows the relationship between Nora, a cutthroat literary agent, and Charlie, a respected editor from the city. After a not-so-great work meeting between the two, Nora and Charlie run into each other while vacationing in a small North Carolina town. As they keep crossing paths, can they realize that they have more in common than just their love for books?
Who will be behind the film?
The rights have been acquired by Tango, the studio behind the Oscar-nominated “Aftersun,” from breakout director Charlotte Wells and star Paul Mescal. Meanwhile, Sarah Heyward (“Girls,” “Modern Love”) is attached to write the script, per Variety.
Are actors attached to the project?
Right now, there aren’t any actors locked in for the movie. But when fans got wind of the news, they started tossing around their top picks for who could play Nora and Charlie. Some names being thrown out for Charlie include Logan Lerman, Jonathan Bailey, or even Sam Claflin. For Nora, suggestions like Samara Weaving or Dianna Agron are floating around.

What is ‘People We Meet on Vacation’ about?
Poppy, a spontaneous blogger with wanderlust, and Alex, a reserved homebody lover of books, are best friends despite their opposite personalities. And they have a tradition: every summer they reunite for a weeklong vacation until their last trip, which will change everything between them.
Who is behind the adaptation of ‘People We Meet on Vacation’?
The studio behind the adaptation is 3000 Pictures (part of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group), and that Brett Haley was going to direct the film. He already worked in other book adaptations, such as All The Bright Places starring Elle Fanning. Meanwhile, Yuling Kuang adapted the script, which was approved by Henry herself, according to her newsletter.
Is there a cast announcement for the movie?
Sadly, no, there hasn’t been an announcement of which actors could interpret Alex and Poppy. As always, fans have their preferences. One pair of actors that fans could see as the two characters are Calahan Skogman and Danielle Galligan, from Shadow and Bone.

What is ‘Beach Read’ about?
The novel follows January, a romance writer, and Gus, her former classmate, who is also a respected author of literary fiction. The two of them find themselves in the same town for the summer, and decide to swap genres for their next projects.
Who is behind ‘Beach Read’?
According to Deadline, Kuang, who adapted People We Meet on Vacation, will adapt and direct the feature film for 20th Century Studios. Meanwhile, Original Film is producing. Her debut novel, How to End a Love Story, will be released in April.
Are there any actors attached to the project?
No, no. However, fans have a clear pair of favorites to lead the rom-com: Paul Mescal and Ayo Edebiri. Especially, after Henry shared a picture of the two of them on her Instagram story.
