Avatar seems to be back, and this time not as a series but in movie format. After Netflix acquired the rights to adapt the story into a live-action, the franchise has once again become a global trend.

During the afternoon of Friday, February 23, it was confirmed that the original series will have its own continuation, unrelated to the production carried out by the streaming giant, which is now the number one show in the United States.

The Last Airbender has achieved an iconic status in animation, influencing generations of viewers and leaving a lasting legacy in pop culture. It’s time for us to find out what has happened to Aang and his friends.

Avatar: The Last Airbender will have a feature film

The story that unfolded in the original series of Avatar: The Last Airbender will finally have its long-awaited continuation, but it won’t come as another season; instead, it will debut on the big screen as an animated movie.

The official production account confirmed through an Instagram post that the original characters will be back, and the feature film will hit theaters on October 10, 2025.

The story will follow Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko and Toph in their late 20s to early 30s. According to Hindustan Times, Avatar Studios plans to release this new project and a program every year, expanding the franchise significantly.

The movie will be the studio’s first project, launched by Nickelodeon in partnership with Paramount+ in 2021 to expand the universe. Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are also working on it.

So far, this is all that is known about the upcoming release, but it is estimated that the search for actors who can lend their voices will begin soon, or if the stars who brought the characters to life before will return once again.
