What’s better than a buddy movie? Definitely a buddy movie led by Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. The comedic chemistry between these two actors never fails to entertain, which is why “Ride Along 2” is trending on Max in the United States despite being released nearly a decade ago.

As its name indicates, it’s the sequel to “Ride Along,” which also stars the same duo. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, it became a box office success, earning $154.5 million against a budget of $25 million.

Both installments were directed by Tim Story, known for “Barbershop” and “Fantastic Four.” He is also widely recognized for being the first African-American director to have films gross over $1 billion at the box office.

‘Ride Along 2’ ranks Top 2 on Max US

No matter the year, Ice Cube and Kevin Hart are always a pair guaranteed to bring top comedy. Thus, it’s no surprise that “Ride Along 2” is the No. 2 movie on Max in the United States.

Amazingly, it has surpassed “Iron Claw,” which is said to be Zac Efron‘s definitive chance to make it to the Oscars. Currently, it’s in a neck-and-neck competition with “Dune: Part Two” for the top spot on the chart.

The story revolves around rookie cop Ben Barber, who wants to become a detective, just like James Payton, his future brother-in-law. Reluctantly, James takes Ben to Miami in search of leads about a drug cartel. Of course, nothing goes as planned, but they keep striving to come out as heroes.

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are joined by a star-studded cast, including Tika Sumpter, Benjamin Bratt, Olivia Munn, and Ken Jeong.

The movie is also notable for its enjoyable soundtrack, which featured unreleased songs from Pitbull, Wahin, DJ Ricky Luna, and Major Lazer at the time of its release.
