As they do every year with holidays, The Simpsons have released another Mother’s Day special, but this time with a somewhat special, fun and chaotic theme: Star Wars.

May the 12th Be with You” was directed by David Silverman and brought together various iconic characters, not only from the galactic franchise created by George Lucas but also from some Disney movies.

Many viewers of Matt Groening‘s series have claimed that this is one of the best crossovers of recent seasons and it has quickly become a trend, now being the most-watched film on Disney+.

The Simpsons not only are one of the most-watched series worldwide, but they have now premiered a short film that has become the No. 1 on Disney+, having only been released for four days and remaining in the Top 10 for some time.

Flix Patrol, the site specialized in metrics and platforms, confirmed that “May the 12th Be with You” has claimed the top spot in the ranking and has displaced other popular productions, such as “War for the Planet of the Apes”.

“It’s Mother’s Day and Marge Simpson joins the moms of Disney+ on a special holiday outing that turns into an epic galactic adventure filled with heroes, villains, and Stewie from Family Guy”, says the official synopsis.

The cast voicing the iconic characters have returned once again, with Dan Castellaneta back as Homer and Julie Kavner as Marge Simpson. Meanwhile, Maurice LaMarche brought Darth Vader to life.

Mother’s Day specials are often beloved by fans because of their ability to blend humor with touching messages about motherhood and family, so it’s no surprise that it’s a strong trend right now.
