Rob Schneider changed that himself after posting a behind-the-scenes photo that strongly indicates he’ll be back alongside his longtime co-stars.
Rob Schneider’s Photo Offers the First Real Clue About the ‘Grown Ups 3’ Cast
Schneider took to X to share a selfie with fellow comedian David Spade, writing, “Me and David Spade getting our wardrobes together for ‘Grown Ups 3.'” While brief, the post is the clearest indication yet that Schneider is involved in the upcoming sequel, marking the first apparent cast confirmation to come directly from one of the franchise’s stars.
Talk of a third “Grown Ups” movie has circulated for years. In 2016, Maria Bello said she had heard discussions about another installment but was unsure whether a script even existed. The sequel remained the subject of speculation for years, including an unofficial fan-written screenplay that gained traction online in 2020.
Momentum picked up again in 2025 when Adam Sandler suggested another sequel could happen if the right story came together. Schneider also voiced support for returning to the series, and Netflix officially announced “Grown Ups 3” in May, with “Happy Gilmore 2” director Kyle Newacheck attached to helm the film.
The original “Grown Ups,” released in 2010, centered on five childhood friends reuniting decades after winning a basketball championship. The 2013 sequel followed the group after Sandler’s character moved his family back to their hometown. For the third picture, Sandler and longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy are writing the screenplay.
Netflix has not announced a release date, and many casting details remain under wraps, making Schneider’s social media post the strongest public sign so far that at least one original cast member is set to return.
