British actress Naomi Ackie has steadily built a reputation as a talented actress in cinema. She first gained recognition in 2016 with her role in Lady Macbeth, where she played Anna, and quickly started her rise to international fame.
First, in 2019, with her role as Jannah in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and then, in 2022, with the biopic of Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody. While the latter received mixed reviews, her performance was praised.

Naomi Ackie’s upcoming movies
Mickey 17 | Jan. 31, 2025
Ackie joins Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Toni Colette and Mark Ruffalo in the upcoming thriller by Bong Joon-ho, director of Parasite. The film is based on the 2022 novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton.
Mickey 17 is an “expendable,” a disposable worker on a human mission to colonize the icy world of Niflheim. When one iteration of Mickey dies, a new body is regenerated, retaining most of his memories.
2073 | 2025
Another Ackie’s project is Asif Kapadia’s documentary thriller set in a dystopian future. 2073 aims to address the global challenges we face and draws inspiration from Chris Marker’s 1962 short film La Jetée. The original featurette, which follows a time traveler attempting to alter history to secure humanity’s future, serves as a key influence for Kapadia’s project.
Kapadia explained: “I want to make an epic about the state of the world, using elements of science fiction as a lens through which to examine the huge questions we are facing as a species and hopefully find solutions, before it’s too late.”
