Now that My Lady Jane has become one of the most watched and successful series in the Prime Video catalog, many viewers have been searching for the actors, like Jordan Peters, who plays King Edward.
He has been in the industry for years and is already essentially an expert in dramatic productions, as well as romance. The young star has once again shown his skills, this time portraying an outgoing monarch.
The new Amazon adaptation is based on the 2016 comedic novel written by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows. Both the actor and Emily Bader and Edward Bluemel have been chosen as co-stars.
Who is Jordan Peters?
Jordan Peters is an actor who has joined the ranks of young rising stars, especially after portraying Musa in “Gangs of London” and now King Edward in Amazon’s adaptation of “My Lady Jane”.
The star has shown a unique charisma, talent and versatility on screen, so it’s no surprise that he has a busy schedule; he will soon be in “If” by Lucrezia Pollice and “Spirit of Place” by Jack Cooper Stimpson.
During an interview with Square Mile, he talked about his career and how he has been enjoying the recent projects he has been involved in. When asked about his proudest professional achievement, he said:
“Landing the lead role of Two Tonne for ‘Pirates’. This is the proudest moment of my career so far because it’s the first time I’ve led a film, and it’s also a film that is so close to my heart“.
Over the years, he has added different titles to his filmography, but he has also confessed that he still has some dreams to fulfill, such as working with Christopher Nolan or Denis Villeneuve.
Additionally, he revealed that one of his greatest sources of inspiration, outside of any family member, is Daniel Kaluuya. In the interview, the actor assured, “I have followed his career for a long time“.
Jordan Peters’ filmography
In addition to being a fan of Manchester United and anime (his favorite being Naruto), the star has shared with the public that he has many passions, but one of the strongest is acting, which he eventually made into a career.
He has been part of Hollywood for several years now, and one of his most challenging roles was Two Tonne in the movie Pirates, which marked the directorial debut of Reggie Yates, who also wrote the script.
Aside from appearing in the 2021 comedy, the actor has ventured into various genres, including drama and action. One of the most popular romances in his repertoire is After Ever Happy, where he played Mark.
However, it could be said that one of the most interesting roles he has played so far is that of King Edward in the adaptation of My Lady Jane. This would be his first LGBTQ+ portrayal on screen.
Digital Spy spoke with Jordan after the TV show premiered on Prime Video, mainly to analyze the queer character in depth, and when they asked him about it, Peters responded:
“When I auditioned for the role, I sat down with Jamie Babbit, the director. She told me about the character and how they wanted him to be gay. That moment in episode one in Edward’s bedroom where he sees this woman naked and the narrator says, ‘King Edward had always assumed that women looked like men underneath their clothes.’ It’s a good introduction to see who King Edward is and his sexuality”.
