Dev Patel‘s continued rise and impact on the industry promise a bright and exciting future for him. He recently premiered Monkey Man (where he made his directorial debut) and Wes Anderson’s short film Poison.
His acting talent, combined with his charisma and dedication to the cinematic arts, has solidified his place in the entertainment industry as one of the most respected and admired actors of his generation.
Three of his most popular and memorable performances are in Slumdog Millionaire, The Green Knight and Lion, where he portrayed Saroo Brierley and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Wicker – TBA
“Wicker” is the upcoming cinematic drama, currently in pre-production, which will feature Dev and Olivia Colman as lead characters in important roles that have not yet been revealed.
The story follows a fisherman living on the outskirts of a coastal town; she is single, smelly, and constantly mocked. One day, fed up with her stuck-up and narrow-minded neighbors, she orders a wicker husband for herself.
Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer are not only directing the film but also adapting the screenplay for the big screen, which is based on the novel written by Ursula Wills-Jones.
Rabbit Trap – TBA
“Rabbit Trap” will be quite a stark genre shift compared to the last movies Patel has been starring in, as it belongs to horror and is full of suspense, chaos and a lot of psychological drama.
Directed and scripted by Bryn Chainey, the film is still in pre-production, so it’s a bit early to know when it could hit the big screen, but many estimate it will be in 2025.
Dev won’t be the only star of the cast, quite the opposite. The actor will portray Darcy Davenport and will be accompanied by Jade Croot and Rosy McEwen in the roles of Daphne Davenport.
The story follows the marriage of Daphne and Darcy, two musicians who move from London to a countryside house in Wales to complete their new album. By accident, they record a mystical sound never heard before, and slowly they disconnect from reality.
