After decades in Hollywood, the actor says his biggest accomplishment has nothing to do with film or television. Speaking to People, Hall reflected on finding lasting love, becoming a father in his mid-50s, and why those milestones have reshaped his priorities.

Anthony Michael Hall Says Family Came at the Right Time

Best known for defining a generation of coming-of-age movies in the 1980s, Hall says he always imagined starting a family later in life. Now 58, the actor shares 3-year-old son Michael Anthony Hall II with wife Lucia Oskerova, whom he married in 2020. Looking back on that decision, he expressed no regrets, saying, “I couldn’t be happier because I always knew, even when I was a young man, that I wanted to get started later.”

For Hall, parenthood has become the role that matters most. “Fatherhood and being a husband, that’s absolutely the greatest role,” he told the magazine, adding that raising a young child is demanding but deeply rewarding. The couple welcomed their son in June 2023, and Hall says they have fully embraced the experience together.

Their son has already reached another milestone after beginning preschool earlier this year. Sharing a lighthearted update, Hall joked that the little boy is growing so quickly that “this kid is like a little giant. He looks like he’s 5 years old already.” Despite the whirlwind pace of parenting, he described this stage of family life as “incredible.”

Hall also spoke warmly about his relationship with Oskerova, calling her “my soulmate.” The couple first began dating in 2016 and became engaged three years later before marrying during the pandemic in a private civil ceremony after their original wedding plans had to be postponed. In 2023, they fulfilled that earlier promise by renewing their vows in the ceremony they had originally envisioned.
