‘Palm Royale,’ starring Kristen Wiig and Laura Dern, will arrive on March 20 on Apple TV+. The series will premiere its first three episodes that day, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through May 8.
The series is written, executive produced, and showrun by Abe Sylvia. Meanwhile, Wiig and Dern are also executive producing. Sylvia’s writing credits also include ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’ starring Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield.
Sylvia is also directing the series alongside Tate Taylor, Claire Scanlon, and Stephanie Laing. Here is everything you need to know about this series, which will certainly be a delight for fans of ‘Mad Men.’
What is ‘Palm Royale’ about?
“Set during the tumultuous year of 1969, Palm Royale is a story of outsiders striving for acceptance,” is the official AppleTV+ synopsis. The movie is inspired by Julie McDanield’s 2018 novel “Mr. and Mrs. American Pie,” but don’t expect the same story beat by beat.
The series centers around Maxine Simmons (played by Wiig), an outsider recently abandoned by her husband and social circle, as she tries to infiltrate the elite society of 1960s Palm Beach.
Who is in the cast?
Besides Wiig and Dern, the show has an impressive cast including Allison Janney, who portrays the Queen Bee of the country club. Kaia Gerber, fresh from her role in Emma Seligman’s “Bottoms” last year, will play a Palm Beach manicurist.
Other notable cast members include Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, and Julia Duffy. Guest appearances will feature Bruce Dern and Carol Burnett.
