Como cada año, MTV reveló las nominaciones de los Video Music Awards 2021, la entrega de premios que destaca a los videos musicales de la temporada a través del voto de los fans. A partir de hoy, el público podrá elegir a sus favoritos en las 14 categorías “sin género” incluyendo Video del año, Artista del año y Mejor colaboración.
El listado de aspirantes está liderado por artistas de alto impacto. Justin Bieber se encuentra en el primer puesto con siete nominaciones, seguido por Megan Thee Stallion con seis. Detrás de ellos y con cinco nominaciones cada uno, otros seis intérpretes buscarán llevarse al menos una estatuilla. Se trata de, nada más y nada menos, que Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X y Olivia Rodrigo.
Los candidatos a mejor video del año son Cardi B y Megan Thee Stallion por Wap; Dj Khaled, Drake y Justin Bieber por Popstar; Doja Cat y SZA por Kiss Me More; Ed Sheeran por Bad Habits; Lil Nas X por Montero (Call Me By Your Name) y, como era de esperarse, The Weeknd por Save Your Tears. Los cantantes nominados a artista del año son Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Justin Bieber, Megan Thee Stallion, Olivia Rodrigo y Taylor Swift.
Con un show desde la ciudad de Nueva York, los VMAs serán una de las primeras ceremonias con público presencial desde el comienzo de la pandemia. “La salud y la seguridad de los artistas, los fanáticos, el personal y los socios siguen siendo la prioridad número uno de MTV”, aseguraron desde la compañía. Y remarcaron: “Estamos trabajando en estrecha colaboración con los funcionarios estatales y locales para implementar las mejores prácticas a fin de reunir de manera segura a los fanáticos de la música de todo el mundo”.
¿Dónde y a qué hora ver la premiación?
La gala será transmitida el 12 de septiembre de forma global tanto por los canales como por las plataformas digitales de MTV, presentes en más de 180 países. En Latinoamérica, la premiación que tendrá lugar en el Barclays Center se compartirá a las 21 en Argentina y Brasil, a las 20 en Chile y a las 19 en México y Colombia.
¿Cómo votar en los MTV VMAs 2021?
Para participar en la votación, es necesario ingresar en la web oficial de MTV. Hay tiempo hasta el 3 de septiembre de 2021. Por su parte, la categoría Mejor artista nuevo seguirá abierta hasta el mismo día de la premiación. Próximamente se develaran quienes son los nominados a Mejor grupo y Canción del verano.
