The world of “Peaky Blinders” is preparing for its next chapter just as the franchise returns to screens with the film “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.” The upcoming sequel series will move the story forward to the early 1950s, exploring how the Shelby dynasty evolves in a radically different era. According to What’s on Netflix, cameras have already begun rolling in England, marking the first step in bringing the new installment to life.

Filming Begins on the Next Era of the Shelby Family

Production on the new series quietly started in early March with a short location shoot in Stoke-on-Trent. Crews from Kudos, the production company, spent two days filming in the historic district of Burslem. Much of the initial work took place inside the Queen’s Theatre, a striking period venue whose preserved architecture suits the show’s move into the mid twentieth century.

The following day the production expanded onto nearby streets, where residents saw the area transformed into a snapshot of postwar Britain. Vintage vehicles and carefully constructed set details recreated the look of the early 1950s, signaling the timeline shift that will define this new phase of the story.

Narratively, the sequel jumps ahead to 1953, several years after the wartime events depicted in “The Immortal Man.” The new storyline centers on Birmingham rebuilding itself after the devastation of the Blitz. In that environment of reconstruction and ambition, the next generation of the Shelby family begins asserting its influence in a city where power struggles extend from construction projects to organized crime.

Early set photos suggest the younger cast will take center stage. Actors including Cal O’Driscoll, Fintan Shevlin, and Jacob Wright have been spotted on set, hinting at who might represent the new wave of Shelbys. With filming only just underway, the first season is currently expected to debut on Netflix sometime in 2027.
