Anthony Hopkins is back on screen and the renowned actor will be one of the protagonists in the period drama that will arrive to compete directly with Gladiator 2, the highly anticipated sequel starring Paul Mescal.

Those About to Die” is the new series from Peacock that will explore an untold facet of Rome: the dirty business of entertaining the masses, giving the mob what it wants most, blood and sport.

The first season is set to premiere in mid-2024 and each episode will not only be set in the majestic yet dangerous backdrop of the Roman Colosseum but will also feature a star-studded cast.

When will Those About to Die be released?

Those About to Die is the upcoming dramatic series from Roland Emmerich (director of Independence Day) that promises to take viewers into the heart of the Roman Empire and will debut on Peacock on July 18th.

Anthony Hopkins will bring to life one of the main roles, Vespasian, in this story where corruption and ambition shape the destiny of the characters, portraying the glory and brutality of that era.

The plot is inspired by the homonymous work of Daniel Mannix and the cast includes talented individuals such as Kyle Rowe, Giulia Nunnari, Angeliqa Devi, Lara Wolf, Bruno Bilotta and Mia McGovern Zaini.
