American Idol, one of the longest-running singing competitions series, returned for its 22nd season (and the seventh after its revival on ABC) on Sunday, February 18 on the network. As usual, a new array of contestants from every city of the US will try to win a ticket to Hollywood to keep their musical dreams alive and hopefully become the next winner of American Idol’s prize and contracts. Superstars Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will return once more as judges. However, as Perry announced during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” this will be her last season, after seven years on the show. “I love ‘Idol’ so much, it’s connected me with the heart of America,” she told the host on Feb. 12th. “But I feel like I need to go out to feel that pulse of my own beat.”
Another familiar face which is returning to the Idol stage is host and producer Ryan Seacrest, who has been part of the franchise since its beginning in 2001. “I remember that I started when I was 26 and now I’m not,” he joked during an appearance in Good Morning America while promoting the show. “And now these kids (the contestants), their parents are younger than I. American Idol Schedule 2024: When are the next episodes?
New episodes will premiere every Sunday. Meanwhile, the episodes will be available to stream on Hulu the following day. At some point of the season, new episodes will also broadcast on Mondays.
“American Idol” typically follows the same schedule of six weeks of auditions, before moving to Hollywood Round, the Showstoppers round and then, live concerts.
