<p>By 2007, while still in middle school, Namjoon had already begun rapping in local hip-hop circles and even made his first recording using Adobe Audition. The following year he performed onstage for the first time, marking the start of his journey as a performer. Known by the stage name Runch Randa, he soon became active in Korea’s underground rap scene, releasing tracks and teaming up with other rising talents like Zico.</p>

<p>Namjoon’s sharp mind matched his talent, with an IQ of 148 and exam scores that placed him among the top 1% of students in South Korea. His parents, hoping he’d follow a traditional academic path, were hesitant about his passion for music. Determined, he persuaded his mother with a simple but powerful question: would she rather have a son who was an ordinary student, or one who could be a number-one rapper?</p>

<p>During his trainee years, Namjoon adopted the stage name Rap Monster, a phrase pulled from lyrics he’d written after being inspired by San E’s “Rap Genius.” While he initially thought the name sounded cool, he later admitted to having mixed feelings about it. In 2017, he officially shortened it to RM, explaining that the simpler version better reflected who he had grown into as an artist and as a person.</p>

<p>In 2009, RM auditioned for Big Deal Records, passing the first round but stumbling in the second. A chance connection with rapper Sleepy led him to audition for Big Hit Entertainment the following year, where 16-year-old RM was immediately offered a spot—without even telling his parents. Over three years of training alongside Suga and J-Hope, he appeared on pre-debut tracks, wrote for the girl group Glam, and honed his skills as a songwriter. On June 13, 2013, he officially debuted as the leader of BTS, beginning a career that would see him shape much of the group’s music.</p>

<p>Jungkook graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul in 2017 and chose to skip Korea’s nationwide university entrance exams in 2016 to focus on his music career. In 2022, he earned his degree from Global Cyber University’s Department of Broadcasting and Entertainment, receiving the prestigious President’s Award, the school’s highest honor.</p>

<p>Jungkook earned the nickname “Sold-Out King” after items he uses — from shoes and wine to novels and even Downy fabric softener — quickly fly off the shelves, turning everyday products into instant best-sellers in Korea and beyond.</p>

<p>While Jungkook’s father is Christian and his mother is Buddhist, he has shared that he doesn’t follow any particular religion, choosing instead to focus on his own path.</p>



<h2>Giving Back</h2>

<p>Jungkook has shown incredible generosity, donating ₩1 billion (about $874,000) to Seoul National University Children’s Hospital in 2023 to support patients from low-income families, and again in 2025 through the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to aid wildfire victims and improve conditions for firefighters.</p>

<p>Jungkook enjoys watching anime, and his current favorite series is “Jujutsu Kaisen,” proving he’s just as passionate about his hobbies as he is about music.</p>

<p>It looks like the Golden Maknae doesn’t like numbers. During a live stream, a fan asked Jungkook, “Do you like math?” and he jokingly replied, “Nope… math probably hates me too.”</p>

<h2>“I Can’t Be Bought”: Ridley Scott on Rejecting Terminator 3</h2>



<p>During the conversation with The Guardian, Ridley Scott revealed that he was once offered the chance to direct “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” — along with a staggering $20 million paycheck. Despite the tempting offer, Scott explained that the franchise simply didn’t align with his creative instincts. <strong>“I’m proud about this,”</strong> he said. <strong>“I turned down a $20 million fee. See, I can’t be bought, dude.”</strong></p>

<p>Scott even recalled negotiating for a paycheck equal to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s salary, just to test the waters. “Someone said: ‘Ask what Arnie gets.’ I thought: ‘I’ll try it out.’ I said: ‘I want what Arnie gets.’ <strong>When they said yes, I thought: ‘F**k me.’ But I couldn’t do it.”</strong> For Scott, the hesitation came down to tone — his approach to storytelling would have clashed with the comic-book style of the franchise.</p>



<p>He compared his decision to passing on other blockbuster opportunities, like James Bond, because they didn’t suit his filmmaking sensibilities. “It’s not my thing,” he explained. “It’s like doing a Bond movie. The essence of a Bond movie is fun and camp. ‘Terminator’ is pure comic strip.<strong> I would try to make it real.</strong> That’s why they’ve never asked me to do a Bond movie, because I could f**k it up.”</p>
