Mary & George is the new period drama series that not only consists of a first season with seven episodes filled with chaos and romance but is also led by two major stars: Nicholas Galitzine and Julianne Moore.

Quite different from Bridgerton and Downton Abbey, the plot is inspired by an unusual true story, which belongs to the historical book The King’s Assassin, written by Benjamin Woolley and published in 2017.

The drama is the creation of D.C. Moore, who was also responsible for writing the script for Not Safe for Work and Killing Eve with Jodie Comer. Here, check out where to watch the first set of episodes…

The story follows the Countess of Buckingham, played by Julianne Moore, who shaped her son, portrayed by Nicholas Galitzine, to seduce King James I and become his all-powerful lover, thus enriching herself.

For fans of historical dramas, the fact that the narrative is based on real events is a significant plus. The episodes explore a lesser-known real event from British history… so don’t miss the new series.
