According to Deadline, Peacock has announced that “The Paper” will return for its second season on Wednesday, September 9, bringing back the mockumentary workplace comedy just one year after its debut. The new installment will continue following the staff of the struggling Toledo Truth Teller, with much of the main ensemble set to reprise their roles.
What to Expect From ‘The Paper’ Season 2
Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, “The Paper” serves as a follow-up to “The Office,” shifting the documentary crew’s attention from the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin to a struggling Ohio newspaper fighting to stay relevant.
The series centers on editor-in-chief Ned Sampson, whose ambitious plans often clash with the realities of the modern news business, while Oscar Nuñez returns as fan-favorite accountant Oscar Martinez from the original sitcom.
Season 2 begins after the Truth Teller staff celebrates a successful night at the Ohio Journalism Awards. That victory quickly gives way to new challenges as Ned pursues an investigation involving a local private club, a decision that threatens the newspaper’s future.
Returning cast members include Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Tim Key, Ramona Young, Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., Alex Edelman, and Nuñez.
Produced by Universal Television, “The Paper” is executive produced by Daniels and Koman alongside “The Office” creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, as well as Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas.
