The story is set in 1989 and follows an unpopular and misunderstood girl who accidentally reanimates a handsome Victorian corpse during a lightning storm. From there, she begins to rebuild him to turn him into the man of her dreams using the broken tanning bed in her garage.

The cast was quite filled with top-notch stars, but those bringing the main characters, Lisa and The Creature, to life are Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse. They were accompanied by Carla Gugino, Jenna Davis, Liza Soberano and more.

The title refers to the book written by Mary Shelley, which has become a classic and is one of the most popular of all time, garnering various adaptations, including the upcoming one by Guillermo del Toro.

Cole Sprouse is the one who brings The Creature to life in the romantic science fiction comedy that premiered almost on Valentine’s Day. During an interview with Men’s Health, he revealed what attracted him to participate in the project. He stated:

“It involves a lot of practical effects; it was essentially a film made with friends, and I always wanted to play a monster as a kid. So, I felt it was a big checkbox for me, but also a handshake to my childhood self.

The arts of entertainment can be confusing because they are supposed to be a passion and at the same time a job. So, you often face the choice between art and commerce and trying to keep the passion as alive as possible while also choosing a financially stable career.

It was really about making a film that reminded me how acting can be a pursuit of love and passion. It happened to involve all my friends, which made it even better“.
