The story combines elements of drama, comedy and action as the Monuments Men face logistical challenges, confrontations with the enemy, and a race against time to protect an invaluable cultural legacy.
It is based on the eponymous book written by Robert M. Edsel and Bret Witter, which tells the true story of the group of art and monument experts recruited by the Allies during World War II to protect and rescue historically and culturally significant artworks from Nazi looting in Europe.
