Thanks to the current licensing deal between Netflix and AMC, there are new great shows coming to the platform in the US. And one of those series is the fantasy drama ‘A Discovery of Witches,’ which has climbed to the Top 10 list of the platform.

According to FlixPatrol, the series, a British production which originally aired on Sky, is the fourth most watched show in the US. It ranks just behind “Dark Winds,“Emily in Paris” and the documseries “American Murder: Laci Peterson.”

Starring Teresa Palmer, Matthew Goode and Edward Bluemel, who recently made waves thanks to the canceled ‘My Lady Jane’ in Prime Video, the series is a must-watch for fans of the fantasy and romantic genres.

‘A Discovery of Witches,’ a critically acclaimed show to watch on Netflix

The series is based on the “All Souls Trilogy” by Deborah Harkness, and it first aired in 2018. Set in a world where witches, vampires, and daemons secretly coexist with humans, the story centers around Diana Bishop (Palmer), a reluctant witch and historian, who discovers an ancient manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library that unlocks long-hidden secrets about the magical world.

Meanwhile, Goode plays Matthew Clairmont, a centuries-old vampire with whom Diana forms a deep, complicated bond. Their chemistry drives much of the show’s appeal, as their relationship not only defies the traditional boundaries between species but also propels the narrative into a wider conflict involving ancient rivalries and the search for truth.

Visually, “A Discovery of Witches” stands out for its richly detailed settings, from the historic streets of Oxford to the landscapes of France and Italy. But, of course, one of the best aspects, especially for fans of the books, is that it’s a faithful adaptation of the source material.

And, again, if you enjoyed the mix between fantasy and romance in “My Lady Jane,” here’s a great chance to watch a series (while leaning more into the dramatic side) that also provides those things… And it’s already finished.
