Michael Giacchino is returning to the world of Spider-Man to shape the sound of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, bringing his signature emotional style to Tom Holland’s next chapter as Peter Parker. After previously composing the scores for the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy, his return adds a familiar yet evolving musical identity to a story centered on a hero facing a new beginning.

What did Michael Giacchino reveal about Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s music?

Michael Giacchino revealed that the score for Spider-Man: Brand New Day will take a more emotional and stripped-down approach, using Peter Parker’s loneliness after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home as the foundation for the film’s musical identity.

The composer explained that he wanted to create a “sad Spider-Man” story by simplifying the hero’s theme and reflecting everything Peter has lost. Giacchino, who previously composed the music for Tom Holland’s first three Spider-Man films, explained that returning for a fourth installment presented a new creative challenge.

Instead of simply expanding the existing sound, the Oscar-winning composer wanted to remove elements from Peter Parker’s familiar theme to represent the pieces of his life that disappeared after everyone forgot his identity.

The composer described his idea as taking away the “extra” musical elements from Spider-Man’s theme, creating a more minimal version that matches Peter’s new reality.

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter is left completely alone after Doctor Strange’s spell erases the world’s memory of him, including his relationships with MJ and Ned. That emotional aftermath became a central inspiration for Giacchino’s approach to the score.

I wanted to make a sad Spider-Man movie”, Giacchino explained while discussing his creative process, emphasizing that the goal was not only to accompany the action but also to capture the emotional weight of Peter’s next chapter.

The composer worked closely with director Destin Daniel Cretton to shape a soundtrack that reflects a different stage of the hero’s journey. The first preview of that new musical direction arrived with “Suite New Day”, a track released from the Spider-Man: Brand New Day soundtrack.

The piece gives fans an early look at Giacchino’s return to the franchise and signals a continuation of the musical world he built across Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Who is part of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day soundtrack?

Steve Lacy is one of the confirmed artists connected to the Spider-Man: Brand New Day soundtrack, becoming one of the first names linked to the film’s musical lineup beyond composer Michael Giacchino’s score.

While Marvel and Sony have kept most soundtrack details private, Lacy’s involvement has generated attention due to his unique style and growing connection to the movie’s promotion.

The soundtrack strategy for Spider-Man movies has often played an important role in defining each era of the character. From the hip-hop influences of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to the mix of pop, rap, and alternative sounds featured throughout previous live-action adaptations, music has frequently helped establish the personality of each Peter Parker.
