Jessica Alba has returned to the screens with her new Netflix collaboration, “Trigger Warning,” which quickly soared to the #1 spot worldwide upon its release. But her comeback doesn’t stop there. She’s here to stay!

Last year, on May 16, Deadline announced that the “Sin City” actress would star in a sports film alongside Russell Harvard from “Fargo” and Daniel Durant from “CODA.” The production is far from your typical sports flick.  Instead, it promises to make us reflect (and cry a lot).

For this upcoming project, Alba will move away from her usual action-packed titles with explosions and intense combat scenes. Instead, she will dive into a drama that is set to touch audiences deeply.

Release date, cast and plot for ‘Flash Before the Bang’

“Flash Before the Bang” doesn’t have a release date or a trailer yet, but it has something that makes it worth the wait: it’s based on an incredibly emotional true story.

The film will draw inspiration from director Jevon Whetter’s own experiences growing up and centers on an all-deaf high school track and field team led by a deaf coach at the Oregon School for the Deaf. The group aims to overcome adversity and discrimination at the 1986 Oregon State Track and Field Championship.

With such a compelling story, several renowned stars have signed on as producers. Alongside Jessica Alba, who contributes behind the scenes, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are also involved in the project.

Notably, half of the characters in the cast will be deaf and portrayed by deaf actors, enhancing the picture’s authenticity and inclusivity. A while ago, Jessica Alba emphasized the importance of this kind of accurate representation for deafness. She stated:

“I was deeply moved by this script based on the true story of the filmmaker Jevon Whetter, which shows the little-known reality of what life was like for deaf and disabled people who were cut off from society in almost every way prior to the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. I’m so excited to be a part of this groundbreaking story about deaf people, made by deaf filmmakers, with a primarily deaf cast for mainstream audiences.”
