Was the sequel more successful than the original?

That’s right! Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was significantly more successful than the original 1988 film, largely due to the mix of audiences—fans of the original joined by a new generation of viewers.

The reviews highlighted both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, the visual style, standout performances (especially from Keaton and Ryder), and the dark atmosphere created by Danny Elfman’s score were praised.
