The wait for George R.R. Martin’s latest adaptation is finally over as we trade the high-stakes political intrigue of King’s Landing for the dusty roads and chivalric honor of the Seven Kingdoms.

Set nearly a century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” this new series follows the unlikely duo of a massive, well-meaning hedge knight and his diminutive, mysterious squire. While the dragons may be fewer, the stakes feel refreshingly intimate, offering a grounded look at the world of Westeros that feels both familiar and entirely new.

Premiere Time and How to Watch

“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” officially premieres tonight, January 18, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO. If you prefer to stream your fantasy fixes, the first episode, titled “The Hedge Knight,” will be available on HBO Max at the exact same time. This marks a slight shift from the traditional 9:00 p.m. slot held by its predecessors, so make sure to adjust your watch party plans accordingly.

Tonight’s debut has a runtime of approximately 42 minutes, making it a leaner, punchier entry into the franchise than the sprawling hour-long epics we’ve seen in the past. This smaller scale reflects the series’ focus on the personal journey of Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg, moving away from the event television bloat to tell a more character-driven story.

For those planning out their Sundays for the rest of the winter, the first season consists of six episodes airing weekly. Despite the series just starting, HBO has already signaled immense confidence in the project by renewing it for a second season, which will eventually adapt the next novella in the series, “The Sworn Sword.”
