‘Dune: Part Two’ has finally arrived on Max, after a successful theatrical run, and within a day it has become the most-watched film on the platform worldwide. According to FlixPatrol, it only took one day for the sci-fi drama to reach the top of the charts.
The film first premiered in theaters on March 1, and it has been the biggest hit of the year so far. Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Timothée Chalamet, the sci-fi epic has grossed $711.8 million worldwide.
Apart from Chalamet, the ‘Dune: Part Two’ also stars a bunch of young actors who are set to be the next biggest movie stars: Zendaya, and the Oscar-nominated Austin Butler and Florence Pugh. As well as a small cameo from Anya-Taylor Joy, who joined the cast secretly.
Will ‘Dune: Part Two’ be available on Netflix?
Warner Bros. Discovery has a Pay1 deal with Max (as it is the streaming platform of the studio), but they also have licensed films to Netflix. However, they arrive much later on the platform.
What is ‘Dune: Part Two’ about?
In the sequel, Chalamet reprises his role as Paul Atreides, which is an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel of the same name. After being left to die in the desert of Arrakis, Paul and his mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) join the Fremen, a tribe that think that Paul could be their awaited messiah.
Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, and Christopher Walken also complete the cast. In an interview with IndieWire, Villeneuve explained that in this second film, Paul becomes “a man” and a “fighter.”
A third movie is in the works: ‘Dune: Messiah’
Shortly after the success of the second film, it wasconfirmed that Warner Bros. greenlighted a third film, which will adapt the second book of Herbert’s series. Villeneuve will write the script, and the cast is set to reprise their roles.
