Taylor Swift is not only carrying out the most successful tour in history, breaking records and establishing itself as the highest-grossing tour, surpassing the billion mark, but apart from The Eras Tour, she is ready for her directorial debut.

Two years ago, Searchlight Pictures confirmed that the singer will make her directorial debut with a feature film she wrote herself, having already met with the company’s president, David Greenbaum in the premiere of Poor Things.

She attended the screening in New York to support her friend Emma Stone, and of course, rumors quickly began to spread. This week, the entertainment news site Puck confirmed when the project will start development.

When will Taylor Swift have her directional debut?

Apparently, Taylor Swift hasn’t tired of adding new projects to her to-do list. Soon, she will have her grand debut as a film director, and according to Puck and Film Updates, this will take place after The Eras Tour is completed.

The reason seems to be to truly dedicate the time it deserves, which means we might not see the film hit the big screen until two years from now. However, it is believed that the production could turn out to be a massive success.

This is not the first time the singer has flirted with behind-the-scenes work, as since 2020, she has been in charge of her music videos, especially after The Man was released.

Rodrigo Prieto, director of photography, spoke to The Wrap a few years ago and said: “Obviously, she is a complete artist, but she is also an excellent director. I must say that the things I have done with her, the music videos, have been extraordinary”.

On the other hand, the presidents of Searchlight, David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, also didn’t hesitate to praise her when they spoke about the film, saying, “Taylor is a unique artist and storyteller in a generation. It’s a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this new and exciting creative journey“.

So, without a doubt, the project will be one of the most anticipated of the coming year…

What story could she possibly tell?

So far, there has been no official confirmation from the singer or her inner circle, but it has been revealed that Taylor Swift will be responsible for writing the story, not just directing it. The theories have not been long in coming, and one of them suggests that the film could be connected to her music, perhaps even adapting one of her songs.

This rumor has been gaining strength, especially with The Last Great American Dynasty, which belongs to the Folklore album. These comments arose after a series of tweets and responses that the singer herself had with Ryan Reynolds and Jesse Tyler Ferguson on X during 2020.

There, the Modern Family actor quoted a fan’s post claiming that the song would be a great idea for a movie, being one of a kind. Jesse wrote, “Ok I’m avail for this @Vancity Reynolds @blakelively @taylorswift“.

Chaos ensued after the Deadpool star replied, “But Bill’s heart…?” and Swift finally joined the conversation, commenting, “not trying to be The Loudest Woman This Town Has Ever Seen but… I LOVE THIS“.
