Riding the momentum of her breakout in “House of the Dragon,” Milly Alcock is entering blockbuster territory with clear eyes about what comes next.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, as reported by Variety, the actress addressed the reaction she expects to face as the lead of Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Supergirl,” suggesting the conversation around her casting says as much about audiences as it does about the film itself.
A Familiar Spotlight, a Bigger Stage
Alcock is no stranger to intense fandoms after her turn as young Rhaenyra Targaryen, an experience that shaped her expectations going forward. “It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on,” she said.

Now taking on Kara Zor-El, she anticipates a similar level of attention as the conversation around the movie builds. “We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies,” she added.
The actor made it clear she is not attempting to control that response as she steps into the role. “I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself.”
Directed by Craig Gillespie and produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran, “Supergirl” will introduce a new take on the character as part of DC Studios’ evolving slate. The picture is scheduled to open in theaters on June 26.
