Waterhouse recently opened up about how the couple’s daughter reacts to seeing her father during his latest stretch of “The Batman: Part II” filming, offering an unusually personal look at their famously private family life.
Robert Pattinson Has a New Superhero Name at Home
During an appearance on the And the Writer Is… podcast, Waterhouse explained that Pattinson’s demanding filming schedule has made video calls a little unusual. Because he frequently appears in full makeup after long days on set, their daughter has come to associate him with his iconic DC character.

“She’s on FaceTime with her dad, who today was covered in blood with huge black circles around his eyes,” Waterhouse recalled, adding that her daughter “doesn’t really actually seem to notice.” Instead, the toddler has embraced the look, giving Pattinson a nickname that has quickly become part of their routine.
“She calls him ‘D*ddy Batman’ now cause he’s always dressed up like that, for the next 7 months… Whenever he’s on FaceTime,” Waterhouse shared, describing how the superhero persona has unexpectedly followed Pattinson home while production continues.
Pattinson and Waterhouse began dating in 2018 before making their red carpet debut in 2022. They became engaged in late 2023 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, in March 2024.
Pattinson is currently filming “The Batman: Part II,” which began principal photography in June after multiple production delays. The sequel, directed by Matt Reeves, will once again follow Bruce Wayne as he investigates a new mystery in Gotham City and is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 18, 2028.
