The debate over who would win between Spider-Man and Superman has fueled comic book shops, convention halls, and internet forums for decades. Every generation seems to revive the matchup, weighing Peter Parker’s ingenuity against Clark Kent’s overwhelming power.

Now, the conversation has found an unexpected new voice, as Tom Holland was asked to settle one of pop culture’s oldest superhero arguments. Rather than simply backing the Marvel hero he has portrayed for years, he offered a surprisingly measured answer.

What did Tom Holland say about Spider-Man vs. Superman?

Tom Holland doesn’t think Spider-Man would beat Superman in a fight. Asked to choose a winner in one of pop culture’s most enduring superhero debates, the actor answered with a smile: “No… I don’t think so. Maybe if he had some of the kryptonite stuff“.

His response during an interview on Heart’s Showbiz Kidz acknowledged Superman’s overwhelming power while pointing to the Man of Steel’s most famous weakness as Spider-Man’s only realistic advantage.

The comment stood out because Holland didn’t automatically side with the Marvel hero he has played in the MCU since Captain America: Civil War (2016). Instead, he gave a practical answer rooted in comic book lore.

The actor’s answer also revived a rivalry that has fascinated comic book fans for nearly 50 years. Spider-Man and Superman first met in the landmark 1976 crossover Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man, where the two heroes briefly fought before realizing they had been manipulated by Lex Luthor and Doctor Octopus.

In 2026, Marvel and DC reunited the characters in a new crossover event, underscoring how enduring the matchup remains across generations of readers. Although superhero battles rarely have definitive answers, his opinion closely mirrors the consensus among many comic book writers and fans.
