Amazon MGM Studios has begun the process of finding the next actor to step into the role of James Bond, with the studio confirming that the search is underway.

While the company has not shared names or specific details about the auditions, it has brought in British casting director Nina Gold to help identify the performer who will inherit the role following Daniel Craig’s departure from the franchise.

Who Is Nina Gold?

For audiences who may not recognize her name, Gold has spent decades shaping the faces behind many of modern entertainment’s most recognizable productions. Her work stretches across large scale television dramas and major studio films, making her one of the industry’s most established casting directors.

Gold’s television work includes landmark series such as “Game of Thrones,” “The Crown,” “Chernobyl” and “Rome.” More recently, she has also been involved with projects including “Baby Reindeer,” “Slow Horses” and “The Day of the Jackal.” Across those productions, her work has frequently centered on assembling large casts and balancing established names with emerging performers.

Her film résumé reaches across several genres and franchises. Gold has worked on productions including “Les Misérables,” “The Martian,” “The King’s Speech,” “1917” and multiple entries in the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” era of the “Star Wars” franchise. Her credits also extend to more recent titles such as “Conclave” and “Back to Black.”

Gold’s career began long before franchise filmmaking became a dominant force in Hollywood. She initially worked on music videos and commercials before moving into larger productions, eventually collaborating repeatedly with director Mike Leigh after helping cast his movie “Topsy-Turvy.” Over the years, she collected industry recognition including Emmy and Artios honors and recently earned an Academy Award nomination in the newly introduced casting category for “Hamnet.”

For Bond fans, Gold’s appointment does not reveal who the next 007 will be, but it offers a clearer picture of how the process is beginning. The search remains in its early stages, and Amazon MGM has indicated that more information will arrive when the studio is ready to share it. Until then, attention may shift from the actors being discussed to the person helping decide which face ultimately defines Bond’s next chapter.
