Few modern sports franchises have managed to blend legacy, reinvention, and blockbuster appeal quite like “Creed,” driven in large part by Michael B. Jordan’s vision both on-screen and behind the camera. Over three films, the series has grown from a continuation of the “Rocky” saga into its own cultural force, fueled by character-driven storytelling and an ever-expanding world of possibilities. As the series continues to evolve, Jordan’s influence remains at the heart of its momentum, setting the stage for what comes next.
Jordan Lays Out His Vision for the Future of the Franchise
In a recent episode of the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, Jordan clarified that the franchise isn’t going anywhere. He explained that the series has “been really kind to me in a big way,” and that there’s still “a bit more story to be mined” from the world he’s spent the past decade shaping. While he admitted he doesn’t want to be “in the ring boxing for the next 15 years,” he stressed that he still has “a couple of really good swings” left in him.

Jordan also pointed to the ensemble of characters already introduced as fertile ground for new directions. He noted there are “clever ways and interesting characters we’ve established that we might want to see where that goes,” hinting that the future of the series won’t rely solely on Adonis stepping back into the spotlight. That creative flexibility, he suggested, is what keeps the franchise feeling fresh rather than formulaic.
A major part of that future involves shifting attention to the next generation. Jordan confirmed that the team is “spinning off doing Adonis’s daughter, Amara’s story.“ These expansions, he said, will show “different parts of the Creed-verse,” a term he playfully embraced to describe the growing storytelling landscape.
Ultimately, Jordan’s vision is about sustainability rather than repetition. “These little IPs are going to keep the universe alive without it being completely reliant on just me,” he explained, emphasizing that his role moving forward will be more “adjacent.” It’s a strategic evolution that keeps him connected to the franchise while opening the door for new characters, new voices, and new creative energy.
